“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves"
The acclaimed Scottish dramatist and author, J.M. Barrie, first moved to London in 1885 with aspirations of becoming a famous playwright. It was in the English capital that he met the Llewelyn Davies children, who would provide the inspiration for his most well-known creation, Peter Pan, The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.
Peter Pan first appeared as a memorable character in Barrie's 1902 book, The Little White Bird. His play, Peter Pan, which premiered on the London stage two years later, captivated audiences with the magical tale of a flying boy, willingly stuck in an everlasting childhood. The 1911 novel, which plots Peter Pan’s adventures with the Darling children, The Lost Boys, and his fairy companion, Tinker Bell, on the fictional island of Neverland, has long been considered one of the finest children’s books of the modern age. A true literary classic.
