Timeless children’s books, iconic characters, captured in stunning bronze
Robert James Workshop is delighted to announce that we’ve secured exclusive rights to create bronze sculptures of the beloved characters from Judith Kerr’s timeless classics, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Mog the Forgetful Cat. These adored children’s books have charmed generations and remain bookshelf favourites for both children and adults across the world.
With access to Kerr’s beautiful and iconic illustrations, we’ll be working hard over the coming months to bring this new series of literary sculptures to life – a collection that will include a stunning 5-foot-tall water feature of the famous tiger drinking from a teapot!
This new project will have much of our attention throughout the festive season and into the New Year, with the goal of unveiling the collection at the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea

The timeless picture book story The Tiger Who Came to Tea, first published in 1968 and never out of print since, tells the tale of Sophie and her quite extraordinary teatime guest!
The story begins as Sophie and her mother are enjoying their tea in the kitchen, when they are joined by a tiger with a seemingly insatiable appetite! After clearing the house of everything edible, he quickly moves on to Sophie's father’s supper and, for good measure, also cleans out the fridge and drinks all the water from the tap!
Upon returning home, Sophie's father decides it's probably best if they have their supper elsewhere the next day; while Sophie and her mother buy an extra large tin of tiger food - just in case their guest should stop by for tea again!
This enduring classic has been enjoyed by generations of children since its first publication, and we’re thrilled to have the chance to bring those much-loved, instantly-recognisable pages to life in stunning bronze.

Mog the Forgetful Cat
“Mog was nice but not very clever. She didn’t understand a lot of things. A lot of other things she forgot. She was a very forgetful cat.”
Mog the Forgetful Cat, the first edition in Judith Kerr’s beloved book series, first published in 1970, tells the charming story of a very absent-minded cat, forever causing trouble for her owners, the Thomas family — from forgetting the cat flap or whether she’s eaten breakfast to sitting in the window box meowing and squishing all the flowers!
While Mog’s misadventures typically result in cries of 'Bother that cat!' from her owners, one night, her chronic forgetfulness actually helps scupper a burglar – which results in a medal for bravery and two eggs for breakfast every day. Her favourite!
