"She found herself at last in the beautiful garden, among the bright flower beds and the cool fountains."
Visit Forde Abbey....
Combine gothic medieval architecture, beautifully attended gardens, and a splash of nostalgia and literary charm, and you’ve imagined the perfect day out in the Somerset countryside.
The historic gardens of Forde Abbey, a stunning 12th-century former monastery, are currently displaying a collection of our favourite bronze sculptures and water features. From now until the 31st of October, when Forde Abbey closes for the winter, there’s a chance to see our work up close and in its natural setting…a dramatic and colourful gardenscape.

Storybook Magic
From Lewis Carroll to Beatrix Potter
If you had the pleasure of visiting Forde Abbey last summer, you’ll notice our collection has grown somewhat since then. Alongside Alice and the Mad Hatter Water Feature, you’ll also find a whole cast of Lewis Carroll-inspired sculptures — from the spectacular Mad Hatter Tea Party Urn to Cheshire Cat and the less-than-punctual White Rabbit, with pocketwatch glimmering in the late-August sun.
Away from Wonderland, you’ll discover Peter Rabbit and his feathered accomplice Cock Robin from the beloved tales of Beatrix Potter and Aesop's Goose That Laid the Golden Egg. It’s a truly delightful ensemble of bronze sculptures and water features, and well worth the visit to search them all out.
Remember, Forde Abbey closes on the 31st of October so we’d very much recommend booking your visit soon. There are few better ways to spend an afternoon, immersed in nature and grand architecture, with literary treasures from your childhood just waiting to be discovered!
