Les Chats (1869) by Jules Champfleury is a collection of essays about cats, made famous not only for its content but also for its illustrations by renowned artists like Édouard Manet. The book blends Champfleury’s humorous and affectionate writing with a series of expressive drawings that capture the elegance, mischief, and mystery of cats.
The original sculpture was commissioned by a client who had seen this particular cat from one of Manet’s illustrations. We recognised its significance as a piece that fitted perfectly with the Robert James collection of literary based editions
Available in both hot cast bronze and cold cast bronze.
